Example of Solar Attic Fan Decreasing Temperatures Upstairs
The Minnesota Solar Tour featured homes and businesses with solar features. The Twin Cities Daily Planet did a very good article on the tour and discussed several of the processes and solar features homeowners and businesses were using. One of the items the article featured was the the use of a Solar Attic Fan in one house that significantly reduced temperatures in the upstairs bedrooms:
"Venberg connected the workshop's solar heating tubes to his house, to heat the family's water. He also installed a small solar-operated fan in his attic. When sunlight hits the collector, the fan automatically runs. Since this installation, summer temperatures in the upstairs bedrooms have decreased by about 15 degrees. As a result, there's been no need to run the air conditioner."
