Sun Oven Raffle Winner
Congratulations to Scott Larson, this year's winner of our Global Sun Over Raffle at the 3rd Annual Idaho Green Expo! (Pictured above is Gem State Solar owner Michael Chadek presenting Scott with the Global Sun Oven). Scott is a Residential Homebuilding Instructor with the Boise Schools and I asked Scott to share some info on this great program:
"The Boise School District's Residential Construction program trains high school students about the construction industry and provides hands-on experiential learning through the construction of a house every year. This year, we are about to complete the first student built LEED certified house in the nation. Students are acquiring and honing skills while learning about energy efficiency, indoor air quality, and better building practices. We do all the carpentry - framing, drywall (sometimes), siding, trim, and flooring. We also landscape. This year's house features a highly water efficient landscape."
In just two days, on May 21st, there will be student led tours of the LEED certified house and the house will be open for viewing till June 4th. This is a great program and we hope you will check it out! More information on the tours on May 21st and on visiting the house are available here:
